This biennial competition between the USA (ICSA) and the UK (BUSA) has, since its inception in 1959, involved teams of university student sailors alternately 'topuring' the two countries.
The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) is the governing authority for sailing competition at colleges and universities throughout the United States and in some parts of Canada.
The "Hall of Fame" provides information on many of the past Tours.
In 2013, the ICSA team toured the UK and won the series (see details below), putting a stop to several year's of UK wins.
In 2015, the BUSA team toured the USA and got its own back with across-the-board wins.
An ICSA team is due return to the UK in August 2017 for the 30th Tour.

Selection Notice 2017
The British team was selected by a Selection Committee, consisting of Peter Saxton (President), Jack Fenwick (RYA
Representative) and Emily Wiltshire (former BUSA Chair and previous Tour member)
The following daily reports were posted on BUSA USA Tour Team BUSA Captain, Tim Gratton:
"The tour spent the weekend at the RYA Keelboat League Qualifier in Cowes, sailed in J70s. The BUSA team finished
a respectable 4th in stiff competition, while the ICSA teams ended up 3rd and 10th.
"We moved to Weymouth today for a glamour day of training off the Costa del Portland ahead of the Match race and 2K trophy matches. Stay
tuned here for updates!"
"After a long day on the water, BUSA emerge victorious in both the Match Racing and 2K Team Racing.
"The morning saw a strong performance by Matt Whitfield, crewed by Zak Bermon and Tim Gratton, win the Lord John King Trophy 5-1. Good boat speed and handling saw them able to make a number of passes on the last downwind to take the series, after a black flag in the 4th race when they got tangled on the committee boat anchor line.
"The 2K series was very closely contested, with most races coming down to the last moves into the finish. The team of Arthur Henderson, Tim Gratton, Tarra Gill-Taylor, Hugo Sloper, Zak Bermon and Millie Gibbons improved their tactics as the afternoon went on and were able to take
the British American Trophy 4-3.
"The BUSA team have a 2-1 lead in the overall series as the tour moves to Queen Mary tomorrow for the 3v3 laser match."
posted August 23, 2017:
"Despite Matt, Tarra and Scott's best efforts, the ICSA team had the upper hand on boat speed and handling at Queen Mary today,
allowing them to take the Performance Sailcraft Trophy for the 3v3 laser match 4-1.
"This means that the series is tied at 2-2 going into tomorrow's final match - a 3v3 team race in fireflies at Grafham.
August 24, 2017:
"In the deciding match BUSA win 5-2 to take the tour series, retaining the title that was won in the USA 2 years ago.
"Sailed at Grafham in 8-12knts, the team of Hugo Sloper, Arthur Henderson, Tim Gratton, Tarra Gill-Taylor, Scott Wallis, Matt Whitfield, Ben Rahemtulla, Jamie Webb and Millie Gibbons had some tight races, with the 7th race coming down to the final two boat lengths in to the finish.
"Well done and many thanks to everyone that made the tour such a success, be it sailing or one of the many helpers that we have had over the last 7 days. Let the celebrations commence! The Teams after the final Grafham event (not all GBR team members competed in all events).

News item: The Search for the BUSA Tour Team Begins
The BUSA Tour Foundation (which had been established by some former UK compeitors to help support UK teams) ceased in 2014 (its remaining funds being tranferred to BUSA). Foundation members had established a website - http://www.busatourfoundation.org/halloffame.html - that closed at the same time. This had provided a Tour "Hall of Fame". The attached pdf provides the information that had been downloaded in 2013.
There are several gaps in the Tours recorded, particularly before the Millenium, It would be much appreciated if anyone able to help fill these gaps would contact [email protected] and [email protected], so that we can add to what is recorded. It is the intention to add the information for Tours following 2013 shortly.
