Yesterday at Navy College, Maryland BUSA won the first of four Trophy Matches. The event was held in three man Colgate 26s. The BUSA Team of Andy Cornah, Andy Bryson and David Cheshire lost the first match in the best of five series, but recovered well to win the next three matches and secure the win for BUSA. Racing on Chesapeake Bay produced shifty winds ranging from 5-15 knots which required full concentration in the unfamiliar boats. The second BUSA Team of Mark Lees, Jamie Reid and Chris Martin won a best of three match in straight races against the second American team to complete a succesful day for BUSA.

Hurricane Isabel has caused havoc with the scheduling of the Trophy Matches. The Laser team racing was due to take place on Friday, but 50 knot winds made sure this didn’t happen. It has now been reschedulled for Wednesday 1st October, two days before the team fly back to the UK. Two more matches are taking place later this week. On Thursday, the dinghy team racing match will go ahead at St. Mary’s College in FJs, and the following day the Keelboat team racing match will take place at Boston sailing centre in Solings.
