University of Sheffield Sailing Club sails at Pennine Sailing Club
The club aims to provide an affordable way for students to start or continue sailing whilst studying. Students of all levels are very welcome to come along and join us, with sailing sessions running every Wednesday at Pennine Sailing Club in the Peak District. We also have two successful teams that take part in numerous team racing events throughout the year, and individual pairs can shine at fleet racing events.
The sailors keep active off the water too, with the Wednesday socials featuring various themes and activities before a union sports night at ROAR. Sailors get the chance to scrub up at the end of each semester for the Christmas Dinner and The Annual Sailing Ball. The club also organises several fundraising opportunities throughout the year, such as glowstick selling and bag packing, to raise money for our adopted charity, The Edale Mountain Rescue Team.
Each year the club hosts a popular team racing event, ""The Sheffield Shuffle"", seeing over 100 sailors descend on Sheffield. The visiting teams are hosted by our club members for a weekend of racing, with socials on the Friday and Saturday evenings.
