COVID UPDATE
The following changes have been made to the 2020 Championships to meet COVID-19 guidelines:
By entering this event, there is an expectation that social distancing measures will be adhered to at all times whilst within the club perimeter. Any member of the Championship organisation team can ask a team to leave immediately if any member of the team are seen not to be. All guidance from event organisers and marshalls must be adhered to at all times. Please remember you are representing your university, BUSA and the RYA.
No individual with a positive COVID-19 test, within an isolating household or who is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 should travel to the Championships, under any circumstances.
The club grounds will be open for the week prior to the competition and we strongly suggest competitors or competitors families consider transporting their boats either the weekend before the event begins or at a minimum, the day before the Championship. This is a very easy strategy to reduce gathering on the Saturday morning before racing begins.
There will be no clubhouse facilities available to competitors, including toilet and changing facilities. One way systems may be in place and must be followed. Instead, outside toilets may be available for competitor use. No changing facilities will be available.
There will be no organised accommodation as part of the event. Competitors are expected to travel each day or find accommodation where no more than 6 individuals are in one group. Please be aware when booking accommodation that these guidelines may become more stringent before the event takes place.
Masks are advised to minimise exposure at pinch points on shore and on the water. RYA and Government Guidelines suggest precautionary measures must be taken when there is the possibility an individual will come within 0.5 metres of another. Responsibility is with the individual and the team captain on how this is adhered to on water.
Briefings and an online notice board will be utilised. A team captain WhatsApp group will also be set up. No physical tally system will be used. No in person prize giving will happen.
Event competitors should stay home if they have any Covid-19 symptoms, live in the same household with someone with Covid-19 symptoms or have been diagnosed with, or suspected to have, Covid-19 in the past 14 days
Competitors should stay home if they have been instructed to quarantine due to international travel restrictions or by NHS Track and Trace
Competitors must follow direction from event staff, venue staff and volunteers.
Competitors must comply with temperature checks. Any competitor failing a temperature check will not be permitted to compete
Competitors must complete Covid-19 questionnaire before competing
Competitors should always follow social distancing guidance
Competitors should ensure they are following hand hygiene practices at all times
Competitors should not share equipment at this time unless permitted within NGB guidance
