BUCS Match Racing Championship 2021

The 2021 Match Racing Championships will be held from 10th - 12th April 2021 at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, using Elliott boats.

Teams representing UK universities, will consist of 3-4 sailors weighting no more than 260kg in total. the team must include at least 1 male and 1 female sailor. The event will consist of 4 stages;

Series 1 - Single Round Robin

Series 2 - Repechage

Series 3 - Quarter Finals

Series 4 - Semi-Finals and Finals

Entry is will open on 2nd February 2021 through BUCSPlay.

The entry fee for this event is £500 per team.

Stage 1 entry deadline is Tuesday 16th March 2021, with AU Approval required by Thursday 18th March 2021.

Pre-Event Information

The SI’s, pairing and weekend programme will be circulated a week before the event. We will set up a WhatsApp group a few days before the event and circulate to you all.

TEAM MEMBERSHIP (CREW): Please confirm your crew to via email to keelboatracing@rya.org.uk by the 1st April 2021. You must also ensure this crew have been added to the BUCS Competitor and Reserves List. Your team can consist of 3 or 4 sailors, but must include at least 1 male and 1 female sailor. The weight limit is 260kg.

TRAINING: If you wish to use a boat for training on Friday (10-12pm, 12pm-2pm OR 2pm-4pm), please let the RYA know ASAP. This is only available on a first come first served basis. Teams will need to pay their own WPNSA fees (around £7.50 each). For teams training please pay WPNSA and see Peter Aitken before going afloat. Peter will make the decision regarding weather conditions and if it is ok to go afloat on the day.

Registration and weigh in is on Saturday morning at WPNSA (room tbc) from 0800-0830.

The first skippers briefing will take place on Saturday morning at 08.30.

FOOD and ACCOMMODATION is NOT provided for this event, so you will need to arrange your own.

CANCELLATION BY THE ORGANISING AUTHORITY: If the weather conditions are forecast to be poor, the Event Director may cancel the event before teams are due to arrive.
