University of Birmingham Sailing Club sails at Bartley Green Sailing Club and hosts the Brummy Bender in November (see BUSA Calendar)
Our club has two main aspects, racing and social sailing. We are predominately based around team racing, with 3 teams and a development squad, but also participate in BUSA fleet racing. Team and social sailing occur on a weekly basis and throughout the year we take part in events across the country. The main aim of team racing is to reach BUSA finals (which we have achieved over the past two years). We have a broad development base (this year winning the Universities Sports Development Club of the Year), we have opportunities to learn to sail, get involved with club fleet racing, learn to team race as well as take part in competitive inter-university team racing. Recently we have heavily invested into Wednesday social sailing with a grant from Sport England, purchasing 3 RS Visions and new kit for all to use. We have good links with the RYA and are constantly looking to provide courses and opportunities for personal development. We are a friendly club able to cater for all abilities ranging for beginner to advanced sailing.
