2. Accounts ? Mark Lees

This year there have been 44 university clubs subscribe to BUSA, which is up on last year. The income from this has helped to pay for the website to be upgraded. As subs where ?frozen? last year at ?135, Mark now proposes to raise the subs to ?140 per annum.
This was passed with unanimous vote.

3. Fleet Racing Report ? George Whitefield

Both the Fleet Racing events [Nationals and Inlands] went well this year. Both events are being planned again for next year. The Nationals will be at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy on the 1st weekend of November. We are currently looking for bids for someone to host the Inlands, as Grafham is unable to host it next year.

The Indoor Team Racing at the London Boat Show was a great success, and enjoyed by all who took part. We are looking into how to change it into a BUSA event next year. Keep an eye on the website for updates on this.

4. Team Racing Reports

? Men?s Captain?s Report ? Ben Field

The Team went on the American Tour last September to defend the title. The outcome was a draw. The American Team will be coming to the UK in Summer 2005, therefore a team will need to be selected (next term), and events need to be set up. All bids and interests need to be sent to Jessica Mapplebeck as soon as possible.

An entry has been entered and accepted into the Wilson Trophy. The selected team members will be posted on the BUSA website in due course.

? Ladies Captain?s Report ? Helen Brown

No team was entered into the Ladies National Team Racing Championship, as not enough CV?s were received in time for the event.
They have also not been successful with their entry for the Wilson Trophy.

Helen is planning to enter a BUSA Team into the Ladies Match Racing Championships. If anyone is interested, please could they e-mail Helen Brown[[email protected]].

Training will be organised for the team and a tour might be possible later this year.

? SUSA Report ? Clare Henderson (on behalf of Andy Lewin)

The Scottish Team racing is doing well. They have lots of teams and lots of racing. Their Team racing Championship went well, with ?old boys? teams and 2 English teams entering (they are happy for more English teams to go next year). Their Yachting Nationals also went well, and there are 2 teams going to the Student Yachting Worlds [Strathclyde ? last years winners, and Glasgow].

? ANUSC Report ? Georgie Hill

ANUSC has had a successful year. Their qualifiers have had problems with bad weather, but all ran successfully in the end. Training days were also organised at West Kirby with coaches.

? WUSC Report ? George Whitefield (on behalf of Jemima Marshall)

The Welsh qualifier went ok. However they are still having problems connecting and contacting the North and South universities. If anyone knows how to resolve this, please contact the WUSC rep.

? SUSC Report ? Helen Grundy
All qualifiers went well.

5. Yachting Report ? George Whitefield (on behalf of Diego Frangi)

The Yachting Nationals were held in Portsmouth this year run by Portsmouth University and RORC. This was a big success, Impression Sailing [Southampton Institute] were the winners! Portsmouth have announced that they will not be bidding to host the event next year. We are currently looking for someone to bid, however the event needs to be in the Solent, so that we can use the Sunsail yachts.

6. Website ? George Whitefield

As the website has been upgraded this year, and we have plans to develop it further, please use it!

Playoffs ? Clare Henderson SUSA
Request that the playoffs be held further north so that Scottish teams can actually get to the event. GW/ML/BF ? The travel costs would be too much to make all the southern universities travel up to the north for the playoffs.

Fleet Racing Worlds
Fleet racing in 470s, Lasers and Europe?s [All Male/Female teams only] are to be held next year as part of the World Student Games 2005. For more information please contact Jess Mapplebeck at the RYA.
