We we're fortunate to receive development funding from the BUSA round 1 24/25 round to purchase 3 waterproof cameras. These cameras will be used to film training sessions to help our race team continue to go from strength to strength. Their first use is to help us prepare for our first appearance at finals for 13 years, the timing couldn't be better. The whole of the race team is looking forward to getting out on the water with them, and much discussion has been had about where is best to mount them for optimal angles. We are also looking forward to be able to take them out with our beginners group, helping to accelerate their improvement.
We have a close relationship with Ripon sailing club and well as contacts within the Northeast and Yorkshire Youth Sailing Association, NEYYSA. Next month we are running a joint training session/mini event with 2 other Northern Unis and them, and these cameras will allow key races to be filmed and analysed at theory sessions the next week. The NEYYSA sailors are attending NSSA team racing camps the weekend after so the footage filmed of them should allow them to make so last minute improvements. We also have joint training sessions planned with another two northern universities before finals where no doubt these cameras will make an appearance, helping to drive developments across the entire region.
YUSWC is very grateful to BUSA for the funding, as without it we wouldn’t have been able to purchase them. We are looking forward to the opportunity to experiment with a new piece of training equipment, helping to drive development throughout the club and region.
Many thanksJamie
