NOTICE OF RACE

ENTRY DEADLINE:
Friday 5th March 2004. Late entries will be accepted, but at the cost of ?10 per boat extra.

CATEGORIES:
There are five classes of competition: Lark, Laser, Laser 2, Firefly, Handicap.

ENTRY QUALIFICATION:
This is an open standard event and is held on inland water. All competitors should be currently competing at open standard meetings. All sailors entering the event must be confident in, and capable of sailing in, such open water and standard conditions. Helm and crew of every boat must be from the same institution. Any breach of this BUSA regulation will result in automatic disqualification. All entrants must be covered by third party insurance to ?2,000,000.00.

ENTRY LIMIT:
University Teams may enter as many boats as they wish. BUSA, However have the right to refuse entry to extra boats, if too many boats enter that class. Please note that whilst five classes are offered for competition, a class will not run unless there is a minimum entry of 15 boats.

ENTRY FEE: ?16 per boat.

REGISTRATION:
At registration competitors will be expected to produce the following:

a) University Registration Card. Only in exceptional circumstances will NUS cards be sufficient.
b) Acknowledgement of Risk Form ? A valid form for each boat is compulsory and no boats will race without presenting the form. All competitors must have signed the certificate acknowledging that they have read and understood the paragraph relating to Acknowledgement of Risk.

SPORT SPECIFIC RULES/ MEMBERSHIP:
Adequate personal buoyancy must be worn whilst afloat ? a wetsuit / drysuit is not regarded as sufficient. A Wetsuit or drysuit must be worn whilst afloat. All boats must conform to their class association rules including current buoyancy endorsements where applicable. A 4m tow line is required for all boats.It is a condition of entry that sail numbers are displayed and are clearly visible. Changes of sail number will be permitted, only with the Race Officers permission. The following rules shall govern the event:

(a) The current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), including RYA prescriptions.
(b) The notice of race for the event, including amendments
(c) The sailing instructions for the event (available at registration) and any amendments.

CAPTAIN?S RESPONSIBILITY:
Please ensure all buoyancy requirements are met and certificates provided on the day as disqualification will result without meeting these regulations. Please ensure all competitors have read the paragraph below relating to Acknowledgement of Risk:

Skippers and crews should be fully aware and conscious of the actual and potential risks involved in active watersports, including drowning, hypothermia and other physical injuries including head injuries. Skippers and crews should be aware of the particular risks of racing where boats are manoeuvred in close proximity and that the actions of other competitors, the actions or inaction?s of the organisers, including drivers of escort craft, can also endanger their safety. The safety of the boat and her crew and her entire management are the sole responsibility of the skipper and he/she should satisfy him/herself that the boat and crew are adequate to face the conditions that may arise in the course of the event.

GENERAL:
BUSA and Grafham Water can accept no responsibility for any damage or injury caused, and by signing the entry form you are deemed to be accepting this. Competitors, their clubs, or Athletic Union are responsible for all travel, hotel and subsistence costs. BUSA cannot accept responsibility for personal loss or injury while attending a BUSA event.
