The Carmela Cup takes place in the Royal Victoria Docks outside the Excel Centre. The racing will be close to shore and easy to follow providing spectacle and entertainment for the visitors to the London Boat Show.
The British University Team competing is made up of sailors from the Universities of Southampton, Exeter, Loughborough and Oxford. The two helms, Nick Cherry and Andy Cornah are experienced keel boat sailors and are both ranked in the top 100 match racers in world. They also have a wealth of Team racing experience, with Andy this year attempting to win a record breaking 4th BUSA Championships.
There are several other strong teams to watch out for including Cambridge University and St Andrews University. Past BUSA Team sailors also feature in teams, with Paul Campbell James and Simon Shaw joint pre event favourites with the Royal Thames’ Team with Owen Modral and Dom Johnson.
A day at the boat show and the chance to see some high class action on the water, while staying dry with pint in hand is an un-missable combination!
