BUSA is run by students, for students. Now is the time to give something back to your sport, have your say in how the Association is run, contribute to its running, help give leadership to student sailing and add value to your own CV. There are a variety of roles available, all requiring some leadership and organisational skills. Committee members need to be excellent communicators. Although these are voluntary roles, BUSA does refund travel expenses to meetings and events, when representing BUSA, so that you are not left out of pocket. All we ask for is your time, consideration and, most importantly, – ideas!
This year we have a range of positions available, including Area Coordinators (Scotland, Northern, Midlands, Western and South Central), Keelboat Officer, Men’s and Ladies’ Captains, Team Racing Coordinator* and a Vice President, the Chairman and an Honorary Member.
*NB: There is currently a proposal – subject to approval at the AGM – that the role of Team Racing Coordinator should be re-titled as ‘Development Coordinator’, focussing more towards developing and growing interest in all types of our sailing (team, match, fleet, yachting), co-ordinating and managing area reps, and serving as a point of contact for people wanting to grow and develop their clubs and increasing participation etc.
For more information on available roles, their different responsibilities and the Nomination Form, please see: Committee Vacancies & Roles 2015-16.
