Good afternoon,
I am delighted to inform you that we are holding a National Umpire Team Racing Course which is now available for you to book onto. Its being held as a 2 day, in person course at RYA House in Hamble, Southampton on the 30th & 31st October 2021.
The Instructors are Chris Lindsay and Peter Johnson, who are both World sailing International Umpire and have a huge amount of experience between them.
This course is the first step towards gaining an RYA National Umpire qualification, but will also be of interest to anyone aiming to learn more about umpiring or team racing in general. Some experience in team racing, or of umpiring will be helpful. This course will also include the opportunity for attendees to attempt the RYA Umpire exam which is required for NU qualification. This particular course is focussed on TEAM racing and will introduce the techniques that umpires use to make decisions on the water, position their ribs to see incidents clearly and how they predict what team racers will do next.
